What is a Parallel Shaft Gear Reducer?

A Parallel Shaft Gear Reducer, also known as a parallel shaft reducer gearbox, is a gear reducer in which the motor shaft and the reducer output shaft are in parallel planes. This allows them to take up less space than coaxial reducers and have high power and torque output. Parallel shaft reducers come in a variety of sizes, brands and styles and can be custom or standard. They are an excellent choice for continuous duty applications.

Preferential design is applied such as main parameter center distance and nominal drive ratio, which guarantee good interconnection between key parts and components.

There are three main gear types for parallel shaft reducers:

1. Spur: The most common and often the most affordable

2. Helical: Low noise

3. Double helical gears: Low noise

Normally oil sump lubrication is used, with cooling naturally. If thermal power can not be achieved, circular oil lubrication or fan may be used and cooled with a cooling coil pipe.
