A Resilient Coupling consists primarily of two hubs, a Grid Spring, and a Cover. The Cover safeguards the spring from centrifugal forces and prevents grease leakage. The Grid Spring is designed to offer flexibility and damping properties, allowing the Coupling to handle high shock loads up to 80%.

Moreover, the spring element within the Coupling accommodates inevitable misalignments—be it angular, parallel, or axial—between independently supported rotating shafts, all within acceptable limits.

1. What is the difference between Horizontal and Vertical Grid Couplings?

The main difference between horizontal grid couplings and vertical grid couplings is their installation orientation and application environment. Horizontal grid couplings are typically used on horizontal axes and are suitable for many transmission systems such as fans and pumps. Vertical grid couplings, on the other hand, are designed for use on a vertical axis and are more suitable for vertically mounted applications such as lifting devices and certain heavy machinery. Both are designed and installed taking into account load-bearing capacity and operating conditions in different directions to meet specific industrial needs.

2. How to install the Grid Couplings?

1 The installation is carefully aligned and the reasonable deviation is controlled
Although the coupling with brake wheel allows a large installation deviation, it should also be within the specified value during installation.
(1) Alignment of the gap and angular deviation between the two-lobed couplings. When installing, measure the gap between the two-lobed Lingsi serpentine spring couplings every 90°, and the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value is the same. more than 0.38mm.
(2) Correction of radial deviation. Place a ruler on the two-lobe coupling, measure every 90°, and check with a ruler, and the radial deviation does not exceed 0.38mm.
2 Choose the right grease
The temperature of oil injection point is ≥150℃, which can resist centrifugal force, and has good separation stability, no impurities, and no corrosion of carbon steel and nitrile rubber.
3 Fill with enough grease
Adequate grease is very important for the operation of the serpentine spring coupling, and it is recommended to check it once a year. Use a dry grease gun to inject grease until excess grease spills out of the hole.

3. Usage and Maintenance of Grid Couplings

The grid coupling requires regular lubrication, especially during high-speed operations, ensuring optimal lubrication conditions. Use No. 2 lithium grease ZL-4 specifically for the grid coupling, replacing the grease every six months and performing bi-monthly checks. Replenish grease as needed.

To add grease, unscrew the lubricating oil plug on the shell and insert the oiling device. Continue adding grease until excess grease overflows from the opposite oil hole.

The spring within the grid coupling is delicate. When replacing the spring, remove the cover and spring, clean all parts thoroughly, and install the new spring according to the provided steps.

Remember: after lubrication, securely cover and tighten all oil plugs.
